  Step 1. Animal Alphabet Sounds

Animal Alphabet Sounds

Children learn to read by playing the Animal Alphabet Letter Name Game. Children say each letter sound in alphabetical order. It’s a great opportunity for children to read aloud and give them confidence in beginning reading.

  Step 2. Animal Alphabet Name

Next they will learn to read each letter’s name. Children will make the connection that each letter has a sound and name. This is an exciting discovery for a young child just learning to read. It’s almost the same emotional experience as learning to walk for the first time.

  Step 3. Animal Name Puzzles

Animal Name Puzzles

Children love puzzles. Next, they get to put together an online puzzle of the different animals from the Rain forest, Africa and the San Diego Zoo. Then they get to see a video or animation of the animals from the puzzle they just put together! Isn’t that a great positive reinforcement for learning?.

  Step 4. Reading Comprehension

Reading Comprehension

Watching TV is lots of fun when the children watch a video or animation of the animals. Little do they know that the next step is a reading comprehension question about what they just watched? Can you imagine preschoolers or kindergartners doing reading comprehension at this young age?

  Step 5. Letters and Words

Letters and Words

For a grand finale children watch and listen to a clip of one of their favorite animals. The video stops on each animal’s name. The letters fall down and the children must click and drag the letters to spell the animal’s name. Voila! Not only have the children learned to read and say simple letters and words, they learned to spell the animal’s name and had fun doing it!
